History of Davis Square Architects

Milestones in the history of Davis Square Architects, Inc.

  • Our origins can be traced back to the firm Downer & Mostue, founded in 1984 by Harvard friends Tom Downer and Brooks Mostue, which occupied the upper levels of a two-family house in Porter Square, Cambridge.
  • Ross Speer interned as an MIT computer “nerd” in spring of 1985 and joined the firm permanently in 1987.
  • After graduating from the GSD and founding Dirigo Design, Cliff Boehmer joined the firm in 1991 to work on affordable housing developments.
  • In 1995 the firm changed its name to Mostue and Associates Architects, Inc. and in 1998 moved to its current Davis Square location.
  • In 2010 Principals Boehmer, Mostue, and Speer founded Davis Square Architects, Inc.

Today, Davis Square Architects is a vibrant firm of over thirty design professionals, with a range of talents and diverse backgrounds.
