Jefferson Park Apartments, Springfield, MA

Scope
Renovation
32 units

Jefferson Park is the transformation of two abandoned historic buildings into affordable housing. This project was designed to meet the U.S. Department of Interior’s standards for historic tax credits. Davis Square Architects worked with MBL Housing and Development as well as the owner, Valley Real Estate, to obtain DHCD tax credit approvals.

The project resulted in 32 units of housing, a completely reconfigured accessible unit in each building, and the former retail space in the Jefferson building became a laundry room. In addition to a radically transformed site, the rear decks of both buildings were demolished and rebuilt, with ramps installed and landscaped.
