Davis Square Architects worked with the Housing Corporation of Arlington to develop Downing Square/117 Broadway, the new construction of 3 scattered-site buildings consisting of 48 affordable rental units. This smart growth project not only provides affordable housing resources, but also contributes to the community. Our design services included collaborating with a variety of consultants to comply with all zoning, environmental, and topographical requirements of tight suburban sites.
Formerly a vacant parcel of land that sat unused for many years, the Downing Square site in Arlington Heights includes a 4-story, 28-unit building and a 3-story, 6-unit building. Its convenient location directly next to the Minuteman Bikeway will encourage healthy, sustainable living for residents by offering easy access and alternative transportation.
The 117 Broadway building in East Arlington is 3 stories with 14 units, atop a ground-floor commercial space that encourages pedestrian traffic and brings new life to the neighborhood.
