Davis Square Architects transformed an historic building into a mixed-use development for Toward Independent Living & Learning (TILL) in Chelsea, Massachusetts. TILL is a private, not-for-profit human service agency, which provides a comprehensive range of services throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire for individuals of all ages with mental retardation, behavioral health, physical handicaps, learning disabilities, and other disabilities.
A highlight of this award-winning project is the Essence of Thyme Catering & Café (ETC Café), a unique business where individuals with disabilities pursue their culinary interests and talents under the supervision of professionally trained chefs. In addition to running a sit-down café, they also provide food services to schools, corporate cafeterias and community agencies. Davis Square Architects came up with a bright, open and flexible space for ETC’s new home, and also provided branding and graphic design services.
