Formerly home to the Lucky Strike bowling alley for over 50 years, the Lucky Strike site is located at a prominent intersection at the junction of Park and Adams Streets in Dorchester’s Fields Corner neighborhood. After the bowling alley permanently closed its doors in 2006, the building fell into disrepair and required demolition.
Davis Square Architects designed and developed a new mixed-use building of commercial spaces and residential rental units totaling 31,410 sf. The first floor will consist of 7,875 sf of retail space. The rental housing above the retail space will be a mix of studio, 1- and 2-bedroom units, and the site will also include surface parking and landscaped greenspace. The unique form of the three-story building is derived from the curve of the street, with the building designed to maximize natural daylighting and views for each unit. Lucky Strike is also an excellent example of smart growth and transit-oriented design, as the site is only a five-minute walk to the Fields Corner Red Line MBTA stop.
