Park Holm, Phase 1

Davis Square Architects worked closely with Park Holm residents and the Housing Authority of the City of Newport on a phased revitalization to create affordable housing and restore the Park Holm neighborhood. The project combined the renovation of existing housing with demolition and new construction of additional family and age-restricted units.

The rehabilitation phase of the project was the gut renovation of 51 units in 17 two-story wood-framed buildings. The scope of work included all new interior and exterior finishes, increased insulation, reconfiguration and additions to some units, new handicap-accessible units, new porches, exterior stairs and ramps, as well as new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Designed to LEED standards, the project resulted in attractive and efficient housing for residents of all ages.
