Rock Harbor Village is a community housing development for elderly and disabled individuals located in Orleans, Massachusetts. Davis Square Architects worked with POAH to replace the exterior envelope of five residential buildings plus a community building, with energy-efficient insulation, siding and windows. In addition, careful surveys were performed to selectively upgrade kitchens and bathrooms in several of the 100 units. Handicap accessibility was of the utmost importance, and gut renovations of five existing units were performed in order to bring units up to current MAAB standards. Civil work included re-grading sidewalks and driving lanes to provide an accessible route to common spaces.
