Info
Toward Independent Living and Learning (TILL), is a not-for-profit human services agency that provides a wide range of support to individuals with disabilities. When they decided to expand their community-based residential, vocational and support services programs, they saw the hidden potential in three rundown structures in the Bellingham Square Historic District in downtown Chelsea, MA. Over the course of three years and careful planning, the buildings were consolidated into a cohesive plan featuring 23 units of affordable housing and 11,000 sf of ground-level commercial space for use by TILL’s Adult Day Habilitation Center, TILL Central Program, and the Essence of Thyme Café.
The award-winning end result is a beautiful integration of community, retail, and residential space into the surrounding neighborhood, as well as a restored street presence.
